SUPER NINTENDO Final Fantasy III (US) Size: 2.14 MB | Ah, the original Final Fantasy III that we all know and love. For those of who don't know, this version is actually Final Fantasy VI in disguise. The reason for this is explained in About. |
SUPER NINTENDO Final Fantasy VI (J) Size: 2.15 MB | This is the Japanese version of the Super Nintendo release. You'll need this for some of the patches I have below. |
GAME BOY ADVANCE Final Fantasy VI Adv (US) Size: 4.98 MB | Final Fantasy VI Advance is the re-release for Game Boy Advance. There are four new espers, two new dungeons, three new spells, new items, and a beastiary. And devote RPG fans respect this release's translation as the best thus far. Personally, I have a hard time playing this because it looks/sounds like such a watered-down port. |
You need a Super Nintendo emulator to play the SNES version and a Gameboy Advance emulator to play the Gameboy Advance version. Click here for my collection of emulators! If you need assistance with any of the emulators offered in my site, check out my emulation help subsite: Video Game Emulation for Newbies. |
GAME BOY ADVANCE FFVI Advance [Restored] Size: 7.98 MB | This is pre-patched with the Sound Restoration hack and the Color Restoration hack. Having these two hacks applied makes the GBA version look & sound like the SNES version! Check out this playthrough on YouTube to get a taste of it. |
SUPER NINTENDO FFVI T.W. Uncensored Size: 2.14 MB | This is Final Fantasy VI: Ted Woolsey Uncensored Edition! The goal of this project was to make the SNES version uncut and to clean up the script but keep the nuance used in the original script. The Woolsey script is used as a base, and went line for line looking at the FFVI Advance, RPGOne (right below), and Lina Darkstar scripts to do this. This is the highest quality uncensored re-translation that the fan community offers! |
SUPER NINTENDO FFVI Retranslation Size: 2.14 MB | Everyone says the GBA version is the most accurate translation to date for Final Fantasy VI. But do you secretly wish that an accurate translation was available for the SNES version? Then you have this patch! It's a complete fan based re-translation of the game. Just note that this is a literal translation, so it may not read as smooth as the official US release. This was made by RPGOne Translations. |
SUPER NINTENDO FFIII: Brave New World Size: 5.50 MB | Brave New World is the most extensive ROM hack yet devised!! It features: • Character-based esper restrictions & new stat boosts that promote greater diversity and allow for customized development. • Esper leveling system that disassociates esper bonuses from traditional levels. • New and reworked formulas which rescue everything that isn’t magic or magic evasion from the dump-stat heap. • Rebalanced equipment, items, spells, and skills that aim to remove dead weight and give players more (and better) choices. • A complete overhaul of enemies from their stats to their behavior to better challenge veteran players and newcomers alike. • Tons of bugfixes, as well as remedies to many of the game’s more annoying aspects (such as rage hunting taking a lifetime). • A new script that restores much of what was lost in translation and builds on existing plotlines and characterization. • And much, much more, detailed in the Readme (particularly section 4). Brave New World is not a hardtype mod. While it is harder than the original game, the creators wanted to keep it accessible to newcomers while at the same time giving veterans a new experience. |
SUPER NINTENDO FFVI: Return of the Dark Sorcerer Size: 23.7 MB | Return of the Dark Sorcerer is a Final Fantasy VI mod that's been in development for about six years. This mod promises to showcases some of the more challenging aspects of FFVI modding, as well as plenty of fun and exciting new content -- from an all new cast of playable characters with customized movesets, a radically changed story with many new and customized events, new overworld maps, a new soundtrack, and lots of unique sprites. To learn more, check out the trailer and their site. |
SUPER NINTENDO FFIII: Stand Guard Size: 2.15 MB | A rewritten script, some gameplay adjustments in the endgame, uncensored graphics, and a smattering of bugfixes found here and elsewhere. Stand Guard is an attempt at creating the definitive experience for the game. |
SUPER NINTENDO FFIII: Once Again Size: 2.16 MB | 'Once Again' is another hack for those of you who have played Final Fantasy III and you're interested in a whole new experience. This patch increases the game's challenge (similar to what the hardtype patches below do), and it also rearranges all items/equipment/magic/skills/espers. In other words, everything pertaining to the battle system got an overhaul. Read the ReadMe for more details. Click here for some screen shots. |
SUPER NINTENDO FFIII: Hardtype Size: 2.14 MB | Is Final Fantasy VI too easy for you? Do you yearn to play the game over again, but you're so sick of it posing such little challenge for you? Well then worry no more! The Hardtype hack is here to save the day! Refer to the ReadMe for more info; here's an exert from it: 'This hack has increased enemy stats, given the AI new (and smarter moves) while altering equipment and Espers. Equipment has been made more unique to each character, and certain characters have new skillsets - for example, Mog has Jump instead of Attack.' |
SUPER NINTENDO FFIII: Eviltype Size: 2.16 MB | Here's another hack that increases difficulty. Refer to the ReadMe for more info. Here's an exert from it: 'This hack is designed to completely rebalance the overall game, in such a way that it is as hard as reasonably possible without making it impossible for a theoretical newcomer to the game to still complete without unbelievable amounts of effort.' |
SUPER NINTENDO FFIII Spoof Size: 2.15 MB | This hack replaces most of the main dialogue with hilarious jokes, most of which are perverted jokes. It's very funny! Click here for some screen shots! |

FFVI Retranslation (EXE) Size: 405 KB FFVI Retranslation (Patches) Size: 195 KB | Everyone says the GBA version is the most accurate translation to date for Final Fantasy VI. But do you secretly wish that an accurate translation was available for the SNES version? Then you have this patch! It's a complete fan based re-translation of the game. Just note that this is a literal translation, so it may not read as smooth as the official US release. This was made by RPGOne Translations. There are two means to patch the Final Fantasy VI ROM with the retranslation: (1) the EXE, and (2) the patches. The EXE makes it very easy; it applies the patches automatically. The EXE should be self explanatory, but if you're having trouble with it then click here. And the patches are just patches that need to be applied manually. This translation is to be applied to Final Fantasy VI (J) (the Japanese version of Final Fantasy III). |

Color Restoration Hack Size: 62.7 KB | As any Game Boy Advance enthusiast knows, most games were altered to have bright colors to accommodate for the system's dark screen. This made Final Fantasy VI Advance look nasty! Fortunately, this awesome patch will totally correct the game's colors and make it look beautiful like the SNES version. Check out these screen shots to see for yourself. Apply this patch to Final Fantasy VI Advance (U). |
Sound Restoration Hack Size: 5.58 MB | This hack replaces the music with the original music from the SNES version (gone the aggressive fuzzy instruments, rhythm errors and missing flats and sharps). The opera songs are now sung by true opera solists, and the major part of the opera tunes are played by Tokio’s orchestra. Apply this patch to Final Fantasy VI Advance (U). |
